About the Journal

Varia Hukum: Jurnal Forum Studi dan Kemasyarakatan is an open-access, double-blind peer-reviewed law journal that explores the relationship between law, society, and governance. The journal provides a platform for critical discussions on how legal norms, institutions, and policies shape and are shaped by societal transformations, particularly in Indonesia and the Global South. It was first published to address the need for critical and contextual legal studies that explore how social dynamics shape and shape legal norms, institutions, and policies, particularly in Indonesia.

Recognizing the evolving legal landscape and the increasing importance of socio-legal approaches in understanding law, Varia Hukum has expanded its mission to promote innovative legal scholarship that bridges law with broader societal concerns. Today, Varia Hukum covers a broad yet focused range of legal discourses, including but not limited to legal reform, governance, human rights, environmental law, digital transformation in law, legal pluralism, and access to justice. By fostering discussions that integrate comparative, empirical, and interdisciplinary perspectives, the journal seeks to contribute to the development of legal scholarship that is responsive to contemporary legal challenges at both national and global levels.

Varia Hukum aims to be a forum for academic dialogue and knowledge exchange between legal scholars, policymakers, and practitioners. While prioritizing studies on Indonesian law, the journal also welcomes comparative legal analyses and discussions on regional and international legal issues that impact Indonesia and the broader Global South. As part of its commitment to academic excellence, Varia Hukum is dedicated to maintaining a rigorous peer-review process, ensuring the publication of high-quality research that meets international scholarly standards.

Varia Hukum: Jurnal Forum Studi Hukum dan Kemasyraakatan New Template 2025. Since Volume 7, Number 1 2025, Varia Hukum uses a new template from now on. It may be subject to modifications, therefore, please download it here each time you format a paper for submission. If the submitted manuscript does not comply with the guidelines or uses a different format, it will be rejected by the editorial team before being reviewed. The editorial team will only accept a manuscript that meets the specified formatting requirements.

All manuscripts must be submitted by Varia Hukum: Jurnal Forum Studi Hukum dan Kemasyarakatan OJS system. We DO NOT accept any submissions via email at all.
